Do you have to register as self employed to publish a book

I'm just asking this for a friend of mine. Do you have to register as self employed if you want to self publish a book?

She's on disability allowance and cannot work. She wrote a book over the last couple of years and has been talking to other authors from other countries who've encouraged her to publish it. But she's worried about her disability allowance.

    Thanks!

Spohia_G, you asked that question here a week ago, and I moved it to State Benefits where you got an answer.

And I see you've asked in it Creative Writing also, but there with a tax spin.

Let's be very clear: there are two issues. One is benefit eligibility, and State Benefits is the place to talk about that. The other is tax-liability. You've got some advice about that in Creative Writing.

And this question is nothing to do with Work and Jobs, so I'm closing this thread.
