    I have an Alba tv/dvd combo, only a couple of years old. Recently it's been acting up, wouldn't respond to the remote. New batteries fitted, but problem getting worse. Now the standby light won't come on, and when it does, it goes off when I press the 'power on' using the remote. Now it won't switch on at all, and yes, I've unplugged it for an hour. Help! I can't afford a new TV!

    No need! I switched it on at the wall socket whilst holding the 'on' button down on the remote......yippee, all working again! Thanks anyway.
