Hi, was looking for information on any issues with applying gran lime after slurry. I could find info on ground lime, I believe a week interval is required after slurry before you can put out ground lime, but not sure about Gran lime?

GranLime and ordinary ground limestone are essentially the same thing. Granlime if just ground finer and so gets to work quicker.... but you have to pay for the fancy packaging.

How soon after putting on gran lime can you cut silage off a field?

I reckon you're still better to put it out after the silage is cut.

Thanks for the replies. Will wait for now till next week for gran lime, hope doesn't rain too much. On slight side note, I just went through the figures for NPK recommended application rate that Teagasc has up on their website. For my silage ground and one of the pasture fields, taking into account approx 20,000 gallons of slurry I generate, to apply the recommended rate of NPK from chemical fertiliser, would cost approx €100/acre. Nowhere near that here- extensive suckler operation, but would that kind of spend on fertiliser be normal enough?
