Vehicle Ownership Change

    Hi,

I've recently bought a new car from a dealer, but they have yet to pass on the information to the tax office about the vehicle ownership change. I bought the car four weeks ago, have called the dealer to ask him to pass the information on and resent him my details. With not being able to tax the car, I've not been able to drive it for the past 4 weeks, which is a real waste.

I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do to speed up this process or am I ust stuck waiting for them to pass on the details?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, mods feel free to move/delete, thanks in advance for any replies.

Did you actually sign a VLC (logbook) when you bought the car ?

If so, keep ringing/calling to the Dealer and insist they send the change of ownership to Shannon. You can input the reg on motortax.ie (vehicle transaction enquiry) and see if they have received it.

If you didn't sign anything threaten to throw the car back to them if they don't sort it out, as they probably don't have the VLC.

If you input the reg into motortax.ie now it "should" show that the car was transferred to a Dealer on xx/xx.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't sign any log book, the car is an 05 so should be a VRC.
The details of the transaction from when the dealer bought the car can be seen on motortax.ie, they should have the cert. I'll try what you said, thanks.
