Wait for 152 reg?

I have ordered a new VW Passat and it is due in the country mid-May.
I am considering waiting until July (for a 152 reg) before picking up the car. My reasoning is future trade-in value.

Will it make much of a difference?
I would anticipate my mileage to be a little lower than normal (e.g. current car is 7 years and 2 months and almost 81,000km).

There are threads on the main motors forum about delays in production of the Passat and VWs in general. Don't be surprised if your Passat doesn't arrive closer to the 152 reg changeover than you think.

I'd wait until 161 if your worried about future trade in, the majority of people will see 151 or 152 as being 2015 and that's it.

The dealer emailed me this morning to confirm that it had been built.

As above; for a long time to come, 151 and 152, 131 and 132, are all just '15' and '13' reg cars. I don't think many people will care which it is. Most people won't mind 6 months, unless you're planning to sell it very soon.

For example, If it was 2017 and i was buying a car, the difference between a 151 and a 152 might mean something. If it was 2022 and I was buying a car, I wouldn't care, as by that point, 6 months is a fairly negligible time in the grand scheme.

    I'd definitely wait for 222.

I could celebrate picking up the 151 reg'd car with a bottle of Bacardi 151 :)

Is your milage not very low for a diesel ? Your only doing about 11K a year.

I am getting a 1.4 petrol because of this. My current car is a petrol.

Oh I didn't realise that the Passat was offered in a petrol model any longer.
My dad was down looking at one and he would have very similar milage to you but the dealer never mentioned petrol

That's probably because the dealer could source a diesel model faster meaning less chance of your dad going somewhere else.

The new Passat 1.4 TSi is available in 125bhp and 150bhp.
