06 Renault Laguna DPF advice

My husband has a 06 Laguna. The diesel particulate filter is blocked.

We have two choices obviously (a) to get it fixed or (b) to get rid of the car without getting it fixed.

I have no idea what it would cost to fix it, but for the last 5 months it has been off the road.

Should we get it fixed or just sell it as it is unfixed?

All advice would be much appreciated.

If all that is wrong with it is the DPF is blocked then look into getting the DPF removed. There are plenty of places that will remove the DPF and change the car's software so that it doesn't look for the DPF.

Contact Coby Autos beside the Red Cow Hotel. They do DPF removal & reprogramming.

Or you could try Terraclean as they now do DPF clearing. Friend of mine tried it out recently and it cleared his blocked DPF.

Thanks for all the replies. Great advice which I really appreciate, as what I know about cars could be written on a very small postage stamp!

Would the car fail the NCT if the DPF was removed?

    Thanks for that Harcrid.:)

This looks like a solution to the problem and it's not that expensive ( cause cars can eat money).

At present they don't test/check DPFs in the NCT but who knows further down the road.

Ok, I didn't know that. If you took out the DPF could you put a one back in again?

I'm sure the question is a stupid one, but I have no clue about cars.

(The husband doesn't either, but he's a man and would never ask a question)

The car has been idle since December and I'm basically fed up of it being in

the driveway. I want it fixed or gone.

Don't get me wrong, the Laguna is a very lovely car. But there's no point of

having a car in the driveway that doesn't go.
