How good is your diction generally ?? I'm good on the phone making 'important"calls, or in a situation where I feel it's vital to be heard clearly like public speeches, however socially I tend to mumble the odd time and have a low type of voice, you'd never hear me at a noisy party or any loud setting. Sometimes at work I get the odd request to repeat myself but I guess it's because I don't have one of those distinctive, authoritive, extrovert voices.

Couple of things you can do

Shout. Get right up in people's faces and shout. If they don't immediately get what your saying, repeat it deliberately and aggressively slow as if talking to an idiot. Use of Italian hand grstures is also recommended.

    Very occasionally.

I speak German in work, and I'm sometimes asked to repeat the meaning of an obscure or technical word. One of my more pithy colleagues tells me I speak German like an Austrian farmer. This comes from a man who has the German equivalent of a Cork City accent.

    I let it slide.

Occasionally in day to day life. By my mother(who I'm convinced is half deaf and just won't admit it) I have to repeat pretty much everything 3 times. I do have a fairly "low" voice but I really don't mumble that much, there's not a whole lot I can do about it. Besides my normal voice all I could do would be shout.

Quite often I'll be asked to repeat whatever I've said. I do have a low tone voice as well, so it's not the best on a night out either, or in any crowded place. The thing is, I am never aware of how low my voice must be. To me, I reckon I speak loudly enough, but it's obviously not the case with others.

Quite rarely. Usually my problem is speaking too loudly. Often I'll be speaking loudly in the café or library and someone will be like…

    Never repeat, always rephrase.

It shifts the burden of misunderstanding.

    Depends on what I'm doing.
