Hi lads and lassies my 01 Jimny failed the NCT today on emissions they were reading at 33% but to pass it needed to be 30%. Would a bottle of additive help? Or would it be a bigger job?

Lambda was 1.00 but it said not between 0.97 and 1.03

On high idle 2650 rpm the co was 0.33 vol% and above 30% fail

    Any advice welcome

    the co

It would be rather more useful if you posted the full set of emissions figures for high and low idle.

When was the car serviced last and was the air filter replaced at that time?

About 6-7 months ago and it was replaced

Looks like your cat is weak but you are just outside the limits you may get away with it if you make sure the cat is good and hot the next time, a little fuel additive may help but a good hot cat is your best bet or replace it.
