I left my previous office job (where I have been since replaced) to do some part secretarial work in another small office about 2 months ago.

Though I was promised the world, the new employer insisted in paying me in cash-in hand. I tried to talk to her about getting paid properly (into my bank account and being taxed properly) and was told to find work else where (after a heated chat).

I do want to find more work, but to cover my costs while I do so, would there be a problem in getting the dole? Will I be told to wait 9 weeks?

Go into your local office and sign on straight away, fill out all the forms and let the dept decide on the 9 weeks or not.

    Thanks, will do.

Should I mention the cash in hand situation?

You will have to make up your own mind on that.
