    Just reading the book " the way of running" at the moment, its about the running scene in Japan and the ekiden.

    Yeah is quite interesting how they have run super fast times for a leg that would be the same length as a half but can't do the same on a stand alone half. The excitement of these races would make good tv viewing compared to a marathon to the general public. It "Big in Japan" :)

    That was the state trophy. Sure why would you bother showing an international presentation if the foreigners won? I actually remember this race, although I didn't see it (and haven't til now). Moved to NYC about 6 months later and it was still a topic of conversation in the Irish bars.
