Exporting a car tax question

I'm planning on moving back to the north in a couple of months and importing my car back there when I do. The road tax on my car runs out at the end of June.

Do I need to notify them that I am not renewing the tax? Or can I just ignore the renewal notification and go ahead with the export?

The car is originally an NI reg.

Yeah you just ignore paying further RoI motor tax once car is outside the country.

Also if car wasn't exempt from VRT when registered in Ireland, you can claim your VRT back.
