Hi I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice. I'm unfortunately unemployed and claiming job seekers benefit, however I am pregnant and due in august. I am married and my husband is in full time employment and we own our home. However when I mentioned it to social welfare I was kind of shrugged off! My question is when and how do I officially inform them of my pregnancy?? Are there any forms to be filled out?? I understand I must continue looking for work until 4 weeks before and 8 weeks after the birth but I'm just confused by it all and wondering if anyone's been through this before! Thanks :)

It was 6 years now that I did it but if I recall correctly I just went in with a letter stating my due date from my gp when I was about 35 weeks for their file.

Now I didn't realise you didn't need to sign for the 12 weeks so still went and signed etc. Idiot that I am.

Things may have changed now, I went in for an 'activation meeting' and at the end of it I received a letter saying that I don't have to sign for 1 year.

I am not pregnant and I have been in receipt of JSB with 6 weeks. Surely if they can do that for me, they can do it for you.
