I think we are paying about €350 for an 8 m cu one , that's the bigger one and they are much better value than the smaller ones

That's not too bad as ya can load away all the crap ya have around. Is there a set amount of time you are allowed to have the skip before collection?

It never ceases to amaze me with the ingenious ways that builders manage to get so much stuff into a skip :D

Would I be better off going to a land fill with a trailer load?

Depending on how much stuff you have to get rid of, a disposable skip might be an option.
Pick them up in a hardware store fold them out and fill them up. When you are done filling it call to have it collected.
This is the first one a quick good has search pulled up. I am sure a number of other operators also offer similar.

A standard is 240, a 16 cube is 360 and a roll on is 500. Get a roll on by far the best value and stack them high. Don't mind the sign on the side saying they must be level, I've yet to see them refuse to remove one. A bit of bitching but they'll take it once they can lift it.

we get a midi skip, costs 180 and we can have it for as long as we want , normally a few months. We get a new one when they take the full one away, we normally push the stuff in the skip down with the back arm of the digger to make more room.
