getting eircom broadband procedure

    Hi guys,
    So I ordered broadband the other day on the phone from Eircom. The guy said we can't get efibre, joys of living in the countryside, but I went ahead and ordered non fibre broadband. He said that they would come out and install the pole and all that stuff. He also said and this is what I'm confused about that they will contact me to get my details i.e bank detail for direct debit and stuff like that. Its a "manual" system and takes time. He kept emphasising not to contact them that they will contact me. Any one explain this. Why couldn't he take my details there and then and also how long does it take, roughly, from time you order it to the time the pole is installed and you have the internet all set up ready to use.??

    No existing line? Realistically a month or more before you'll get DSL.
