Say you caught someone carelessly ding your door in a car park.

What legal rights do you have to get the person to cover the repair cost?

Take insurance details and put in claim.

The only way people will learn is if you hit them in the pocket. Claim off their insurance.

I had both side rear passenger doors done within a couple of days. Asshats. Don't know how much it would cost to get them fixed, or if I will bother, plenty more asshats in the sea....

It just the the reason I asked is that a prick of a neighbor who drives a piece of crap 16 year old polo just hit off my door outside my house in the car park. My CCtv pointed right at him.

Marks rubbed away with a bit of polish. But if he does it again, and its illegal to set fire to his house when he is in it , I need to know what avenue to go down. He is a prick. I have watched him bounce off other peoples doors in the past with out giving it a second look. One of them was a new car.

Whilst I agree with this line, legally, where does one stand? Surely, in lieu of any video evidence, its your word against theirs?

Say someone carelessly dinged there own car with a trolley in the car park, and you happened to be parked beside them. Couldn't they just take down your details and claim you hit them with your door?

I'd imagine you'd need far stronger evidence than 'They hit my door' unless the other party admitted fault (Unlikely) or you had a witness / DVR.
