Anyone else having problems with digital text on RTE. I have 3 Samsung tvs one Saorview approved and a couple of Ican easy boxes and the text won't work on any of them. It's fine on the BBC's.

Just rang Saorview (the number is on Channel 23 information screen)- it's a nationwide problem

Same for me. I haven't been able to access Aertel for over 24 hours.

Wouldn't kill them to put info about such outages on their website just to avoid confusion among the viewing public thinking it's an issue with their individual set.

Yeah I was asked this morning to go out and fix this problem on a relatives TV, they were convinced it was some button they pressed on the remote that had caused the problem.

As they thought they had caused the problem it never occurred to me to check on here (or even check my own TV) until after I'd been out to try and fix it.

I've always been firmly convinced that no one in Montrose actually monitors what they broadcast. Especially on text. How many times do you see two versions of the same news story? And what's with the HTML tags to twitter or whatever in the middle of news items?

Not even mentioned on the Saorview Facebook or Twitter pages.

They have a Ch 23 information page that is a waste of broadcasting capacity. They could post a message on that.

    Fixed now

It was probably a test to see how many people would notice/complain so they can justify closing down the service

Presumably that dept was off for the weekend (and didn't notice since they'd all have Sky or UPC). :D

Working fine with me. Seemed OK around lunchtime too for the couple of things I looked at.

I have done a rescan and have text on all but RTE 2 HD RTE junior and RTE news now (no text on some transmitters).

I receive from Cairn Hill, Maghera, Truskmore, Castlebar and Tonabruky and there is no digital text on my 2 Sony Bravia TVs on RTE 2 HD from any of these transmitters. On a Saorview box I can get digital text on RTE 2 HD. What is going on?

Did you regularly use the text service before the current problem was reported here?

You're not just giving up the 1st time a 'service not supported' message is flashed up, or something like that?

Have it working on all channels from all 5 tranmitters now but it seems slower to respond than before. Pressing the text key just once and waiting worked on most occasions. If I got the NO TEXT message, I cleared that antd tried again and it worked then for digi text but as I said it is slow to respond.

Digital Text working on all RTE channels from Clermont Carn Transmitter

Don't all the transmitters get the same transport stream? I don't see why there would be any difference between them WRT Aertel working or not.

Unless there was a fault at a particular transmitter.

I don't see how a transmitter fault could affect Aertel, & leave everything else in the mux. unscathed.
