    Hi.

Does anyone know of a decent priced courier going from Ireland to the UK. I am going to be selling fragrance oils/soapmaking goods & can't send any liquids by An post which is very frustrating. I've searched myself & best I've found is around €15 for 1kg!

    Thanks for any advice.

Parcel Motel (Scroll down to "Send a parcel"). The prices are set by the size, not the weight (up to 10Kg). The service has tracking, and is very fast for the price. I recently sent a parcel from Limerick to London. I put the parcel in the locker on a Tuesday evening, and it arrived at its destination on the Friday morning.

    The prices are:
    €14.50 for a small package (8 × 38 × 64 cm)
    €15.50 for a medium package (19 × 38 × 64 cm)
    €16.50 for a large package (41 × 38 × 64 cm)

Thankyou for that. I've never heard of that kind of thing. I've just a quick look & will have to investigate the process. I'm in Tipperary. I'll have to see if there's any depots near me that do that.

Thankyou again for the quick answer.

Its not An Post rules - Its international aviation rules and An Post MUST adhere to them.

All An Post items go by airmail, so that where the issue is with them. Parcel delivery companies such as DPD / GLS send stuff by road/sea and express couriers like Fedex do take liquids by air, but paperwork and additional charges in order to conform to the aviation rules make this only worth it for high value shipments.

If your items are low value, then its a difficult one.

Maybe try and get traction in Ireland first (advantage is UK and European competitors can't really target Ireland due to the same rules)

I can receive fragrance oils & liquids no problem from the UK (as long as it's no more than 1 L /subject to PF liquid reatrictions), EU & the USA. It just seems using An post is the problem of zero liquids to be shipped out.

I've sent liquids with Royal Mail parcelforce international air myself when in the UK & so have my suppliers. It's making life difficult for a few soap/beauty businesses in Ireland that would like to expand their range. Shame.

Royal mail have a surface mail option. - cheaper and slower. Demand isn't there for an post to so the same - 4.5m people v 60+m in UK.

Royal mail air have similar restrictions to an post. Maybe it was a few years ago that you sent royal mail air?

if your volume is big enough, dpd will deliver for about €8.
