It's a Panasonic TX-L42TV and it has a CI card slot. It would have been very convenient if it read the Sky/Setanta card, I will now have to get a Sky Box, it will read a Setanta card and show BT sports.

It wont work as it will not update the entitlements on the card.

You require a Sky Box which has proprietary software and hardware. the card is married to the box.

That's not exactly what Setanta said. They offered to send me a viewing card to use with a Sky box. They said that I do not need to be a Sky
    subscriber.

That's right, you don't need to be a Sky subscriber, just have a proprietary Sky Box (that works).

For avoidance of doubt, what STB was referring to that would NOT work, is the Sky card will not work in conjunction with the CI slot in your Panasonic TV.

Thank you all for you expert advice, it is much appreciated. I now know that the TV CI slot does not do what I want and that there is another solution.
    This subject is now closed.
    Many thanks.
