Motel One at the Deutsches Museum is pretty good. We had friends stay there around xmas and they only had good things to say about it

is that euros or some eastern european currency? I wouldnt call €250 a night a standard, not break the bank, price.

Anyhow, in Munich theres not a great amount of bargains in the central areas any more for good hotels, but you can still get decent hotels for about the €100 per night for duble room incl breakfast if you look about

funny enough, the holiday inn would have been my recomendation as they have good deals hidden on their own website for weekend stays incl breakfast, even booking relatively late, and the location is good and direct s-bahn to airport makes it very convienent (and door to hotel in station without going outside is also good).

For €250 though you could have got a deal on the sofitel by the station or Le Meridien across the road. With luck even the charles hotel round the corner. Which the last time I passed had a Bugatti Veyron (a car that costs a mere €1,912,500) parked outside belonging to a guest.

ended up booking the holiday inn for 3 night, 450 inc breakfast. not too bad i guess, yeah i read the location was pretty good so that will be nice.
now what would you recommend i see within the 3 days there :-)
going to try take in neuschwanstein castle on the monday with a tour company called mikes bike tours so thats monday out. i guess a trip to a beer hall/garden is in order. Heard good things about augustiner beer hall, would that be your recommendation?

Buy a Bayern Ticket and take the train to Neuschwanstein. The train is mainly single line and cuts through the Alps. Its about 60 mins of looking at mountains and Alpian cows. Something you wont see on a Bus. The Bayern Ticket includes the bus from Neuschwanstein to the Castle. So its cheap

If it's the Holiday Inn on Hochstrasse, then that's a great location & easily within walking distance of Marienplatz. You also have direct access to the Rosenheimer Platz S-Bahn station from the hotel lobby. Stayed at the Westin in Arabellapark for sub €100 p/n last July through Priceline's 'Express deals'. Great rooms, but a bit of a schlep from the city centre on the U-Bahn.

Always worth checking out the IHG F&F rate when booking a Holiday Inn btw:
