"On the road" as a perjorative

An elderly lady of my acquaintance regularly criticises folk for "being always on the road" or "always trotting on the road". Anyone else come across this?

We should be all indoors cleaning our houses it seems.

I am disappointed this isn't a Jack Kerouac reference.

Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road.

    "Perjorative"

Someone had a dictionary for breakfast.....

Maybe post it in the 'What's for Breakfast' thread?

That elderly lady would want to mind her own business, she has too much time on her hands.

I always though a perjorative was a laxative

I'll start a new thread tomorrow with the word "obstreperous" in the title. :D

It's not the wans on the road you should worry about, it's the wans in the road.

Is there anything to be said for a mass?

I've seen "End of the road" being described in pejorative terms.

It's a generational thing, I reckon. What would you be doing enjoying yourself?
