Back again looking for someone to give me their opinion based on the following information.
Okay so like I stated before on a previous post I decided to start my late Dad's Family tree.
It's been fairly straightfoward until I get back to my G,G,G Grandmother Judith Flanagan. Her father was Michael and they resided in Ticknevin in Carbury and that's all I had there.

I can't find any birth record for her but got a marraige record from Carbury Parish for a Michael Flanagan and Bridget Flanagan (no maiden name recorded),who appear to have been married in Kileaskin in Carbury in 1825.
From researching another Ancestor that is buried in Kilpatrick graveyard I seen that Sinead De valera's grandfather who was Francis Flangan from Ardkill in Carbury is buried there also.

I suppose curiosity (because of the area that my G,G,G,G Grandfather was married and then resided) I decided to try again to see If anything might pop up. I found a partial tree for Sinead but like I guessed It didnt shed any light of a possible connection because I had a feeling that If it was a direct line then I probably would have found something by now.

So bascially How likely in your honest opinions that he was connected in some way to these Ardkill Flanagans?. I know I'm baseing this on locations at this point.I also have no idea how common that surname was back then! Any Idea how I could try and research this a bit further?
Once again Thank you in advance

It's all about probabilities at this point which is not a bad place to start. For me my surname (Brunkard) is so uncommon that it's always even odds when it appears.

The thing is that Flanagan is a common surname so you need to start narrowing it down. Ultimately the only way you would properly answer this is by playing genealogist for Sile De Valera!

I had a look - Ardkill is tiny. In the Tithe Applotments there's one Flanagan family - James Flanagan is the head.

In Kileaskin there's the one Flanagan family listed with a James Flanagan at it's head.

Using Griffiths, there's one Flanagan family in Carbury parish, four in Ardkill. There's 180 families farming across Kildare with that surname in Griffith's and they're fairly evenly distributed.

To be honest more would need to be done finding commonalities with Sile De Valera's lineage which would be difficult given the timeframe. It's not solid enough as is.

A could way of indicating kinship would be to check the names of the witnesses to family weddings and baptisms. You might see Ardkill Flanagans standing for Ticknevin ones. This could indicate some connection too...
