    Hi all,

    Just a quick question.

I have parents depending on me because they have no income anymore. They used to work in Belgium and then they moved in Ireland with as I am working here.

Could I have any kind of benefit from the social welfare ? If yes, how much that would be ?

    Thank you

Are you working? How many hours? Are either of them seriously ill or disabled? How old are they? Are they not entitled to a Belgian pension?

    Hi

I am working full time. They aren't seriously ill or disabled. They are 56 years old and they are not entitlted to Belgian pension because they were self employed.

If they are here more than 2 years would they be entitled to JSA?

Well my mom is having leg issuse she can't walk properly. My dad could work here but I dont feel like putting him into a job now as he never worked for anyone but himself.

It's like loosing what they had so they don't really have the guts anymore to work as an employee after 33 years as self employed.

How did they intend to support themselves when they decided to come to Ireland?

Did their company go out of business or something?

If your mother cant use her leg then surely that is a disability?

Do they have any assets in Belgium, a house they could sell or anything like that?

Great, I'm sure they will be of great benefit to the country. Feel sorry for you OP. Don't have the guts to work? What is that all about?
