Switching from PAYG back to standard billing.

    Hi,

I've recently signed a lease for an apartment that has an EI PAYG meter installed. I would rather be billed normally as this is how I've always done things and so I'm wondering if this is possible. The landlord seems to want me to stay on the PAYG system, but I worry it'll be inconvenient for me in the long run. If I were to switch to billing, would the meter be removed?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi bloodstormaoa,

    Thank you for your message.

Yes - you would be able to revert the meter back to standard. There is no need to remove the meter as it can simply be deactivated to revert to bill pay mode. You would need to call our colleagues in the Pay As You Go team on 1850 30 50 95 to supply you with a 60 digit code. Once the code is put into the meter, you will no longer have to top up. Please call from the property when doing so as you may need to ask to you to read your meter. The Pay As You Go department are available from Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm. When you leave the property, the landlord or a subsequent tenant can get another 60 digit code to reset the meter to prepayment mode if they so wish.

Do let us know if there is anything else that you require.

    Regards,
    Aoife
