Removing flaking paint from exterior walls

    Hi,

I've been asked to look into removal of flaking paint on some external pillars and walls. The walls/pillars are finished in plaster and have been painted numerous times over the years. However, they are not flaking badly and look terrible.

We want to get the back to the base plaster finish as we would like to have the option of leaving it at that finish insitead of being forced to continually paint them.

What is the best option for removing flaking paint of a large surface area? I'm thinking that a mobile sandblaster would be the best option - any other suggestions?

    Powerwasher.

If you do decide to repaint, use a masonry stabilizing solution/primer before. It will prevent the paint from flaking in the future.

    Powerwasher.

Would a power washer bring it back to bare cement. From looking at it I doubt even if our 2200psi washer would shift the half of it.

Sand blasting will, but very unlikely that a power washer will. I second Sinister kids advice.
