“Furthermore, it has been suggested that e-cigarette use could act as a new gateway into nicotine addiction and tobacco use for young people.”

Good thing they didn't have these fancy ecigs when I was young, otherwise I might have got addicted to nicotine.

the part about children with ecigs is pretty ridiculous in my opinion any way, those same kids would have took to cigerettes if ecigs didnt exist, not that i think its ok for kids to use e cigs of course

They just desperately need to shoehorn in a "think of the children" somewhere because otherwise they have to admit that the the reduction aspect of ecigs beats any logical opposition to them. I don't actually mind the controls pu5 forward in this article like ingredients labelling, although I'd be happy enough with them listing the ingredients online because I'm guessing it's be hrs to fit them all on a 10ml bottle sometimes.

The vast majority of the controls put forward are absolute nonsense though, best example is no bottles bigger than 10ml. How would that help anybody except sellers who will be able to charge more? It's completely contrary to banning the sale of 10 packs of cigarettes too.

Good points Richie. yes the argument is weak enough alright, i have had a concern about the inhalation of food flavourings in ecigs, however i ve been vaping for nearly 2 years now and they completely changed my health for the better, cigerettes were really killing me. i would like to see more regulation myself though, not the kind as you state like the size of bottles which is pretty ridiculous alright. More stricter guidelines on flavourings would be a good start. some liquids can be very viscous and although they are lovely to vape these rich juices, i would be concerned they are more damaging than we think.

I have the same concerns with the flavourings. I said on here a while ago that I think if aything throws up a health scare in the future it will probably be some of the flavourings rather than the essentials. It's a shame that there's too many vested interests to have some serious regulation for the benefit of the peolle rather than the lobbyists.

Yes Richie unfortunately there are alway vested interests in the world.

I hear there are flavourless liquids or at least you can make them, i must look into more, i would like to give up the ecig altogether some day but if i struggle with that, i would make vaping as safe as possible for myself

There's an awful lot of muck being spouted about e-cigs lately, and you'll find, if you traced it back to root, it'll probably have hailed from a tobacco company.

How they are allowed freely slander, slam, scare monger, BS and mislead people when it comes to the very thing that could put them out of pocket, I do not know. Especially as they sell one of the most deadly legal products on the planet. Amazing enough that cig's haven't been completely banned long, long ago!

    It's all about the money

I get a 100ml btl of flavourless 50/50 6mg for €10 from my local stockist every few weeks, it makes up the bulk of my vaping .

    Get a 100ml bottle of 72mg 50/50 and mix it with PG/VG.
You're talking €16.50 for the Nic and €20 for a litre for the VG/PG - for less than €50 you can make 1250 ml of liquid

While tobacco companies are not blameless, the real opposition to e cigs comes from pharma companies. They are the main contributors to the various organisations opposing e cigs. They also are the biggest sponsers of research.
Theirs also a lot of fearfear being spread by the WHO, based on the notion that their framework is the only way. I suspect they see the tobacco framework as a templatetemplate for other lifestyle issues and resist anything that might cast it as less that the only option.

been thinking about mixing my own, but i am a novice only 5 months vaping and have been
using the usual liquids that you get, all tobacco . i was using a nautilis and an iclear 30s up to a few weeks ago.
then i got a kayfun from fasttech. wow so much different,it blows the other two away
    but it eats juice

about the mixing liquids that you quote

1 where do you order from
    2 how to mix
    3 how to flavour

    any help would be appreciated

    2 how to mix
In a bottle, you'll get them cheap on that site too
    3 how to flavour
Just pour in the concentrate and shake, I use 10-15%

    any help would be appreciated

I have been saving a fortune by mixing myself.

hmm mixing yourself, would be very interested it that

    so if I bought

    http://www.vapebase.de/Vape-Bases/VGPG-Vape-Bases/55/35/10-Vape-Bases/100ml-Vape-Base-55-35-10-VGPG-18mg-ml::165.html

    and

    http://www.vapebase.de/Flavours/Strawberry-flavour::11.html

so all I would have to do is mix 50% of the 10ML flavouring to 95% of the 100ML base and give it a good shake, is that all there is to it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,005 ✭✭✭JH_raheny

it would probably be a bit weak at first as that would only make it a 5% mix, I would start by mixing it to hit somewhere around 12-15% flavouring
it'll take a few days before it hits full flavour as well

thanks it was just a rough guess, so I would put in 85% base and 15% flavour and I would be good to go? and the mixed liquid would have an approx nicotine strength of 15ml? (could be wrong on that one)

just reading about it now, its overwhelming the amount of options, anywhere good for noobs like me to start?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,005 ✭✭✭JH_raheny

Obviously if you use let's say 85% of a 6mg and 15 % of a plain flavour you would have 100% of something a bit less than 6mg nicotine, although not a totally accurate measurements it is still better than ending up with something to strong on the nic. as you will probably vape a bit more, especially with drippers, personally I found that I would go through more juice with rebuilds rather than pre made coils so lower nic. Levels works better
