Eugene, Oregon to host 2021 World Athletics Championships

    They bypassed the bidding process. Great decision IMO from an athletics point of view. Hayward Field is iconic, Eugene loves athletics, and having the event in the U.S. will do great things for the sport. There will be issues with regards accommodation etc as it is only a small city, but they've 6 years to sort that out.

    Already tight enough for the Diamond League!

    Fantastic choice though, especially compared to places like Daegu. Nice to see places that really care about the sport getting to host the major events.

    Daegu was fantastic. A really great atmosphere and big crowds, even for morning sessions which was unusual. Locals didn't understand the sport but they supported the championships enthusiastically. I'd have no issue with Korea getting it again. They learned from the mistakes of Osaka 2007.

    Think they plan to expand Hayward Field. Hope it doesn't spoil it's intimate atmosphere though.
