Peugeot 206, handbrake sticking?

Hi have a Peugeot 206, 2001 recently and only occasionally it won't reverse like the handbrake is stuck. I have to drive it forward and back to loosen it. Does this sound like the handbrake sticking? Is this a big job to fix, and would it be expensive, I like to have an idea before I go to a garage.
    Thanks in advance

Do you start your day with disengaging the handbrake and reverse out of the driveway?
Try leaving the car in gear overnight and don't use the handbrake. See if that helps.

It could be that the shoes/pads needs changing. You can swing by a local mech and let them have a look. It won't cost anything to have a look.
When was pads/shoes last changed on the car?

Not DIY effort, moved to main forum.

One of two things happened here either you have a brake lining came off a shoe or the wheel cylinders are leaking and causing the shoes to stick to the brake drum over night most likely the latter.
Either way you will need to replace the shoes and cylinders.
