Hey, after purchasing a car a few months back, it got sent back with the wrong date of sale on it, long story short, the previous owner changed it to stick me with his toll charges, i went the garda station, got a letter from them, sent it back into a supervisor in shannon, weeks and weeks later nothing happens, i ask for the log book back and im told they sent it to the guard who wrote the letter and i should get in touch with them? does this seem right? is there anyone i can complain to thats higher then a supervisor in the dept of transport in shannon? im considering going to a solicitor at this stage because i cant get the log book back and the car is just lying up and i cant drive it.

any advise on what to do would be appreciated!

You have alleged to the Gardaí that someone has committed an offence. If the Garda is investigating this you can be sure he wants the original VLC as evidence which is probably what Shannon have done. Contact the Garda and see if he has it and can release it (even if it has to go back to Shannon).

Has the car been registered in your name, only that you are disputing the transfer date?
What's preventing you driving the car?
You don't need the VLC to tax or insure the car, and the NCT often don't want it either.

It seems from the OP that OP in now regged owner and thus can tax, insure etc and drive the car.
Get in touch with guard tomorrow and ask about getting VLC.
