    Hi.

I'm looking to buy a new set of Irons. I have been playing with a beginners set of irons that cost me under €100 new so they ain't the best as you can imagine. I would currently play off a 23 handicap and feel sometimes the club lets me down with Distance and control. I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction to getting new irons as i have little knowledge and would prob just but the nicest looking rather than what would suit someone of my own ability.

Any help or club advise would be welcomed

    Thank you

    Neil

What are the irons you currently have? Not being smart but it's a very general question, one person might like ping, another titleist, etc, similiar to buying a car! Can you give more information, have you had lessons? The reason I ask is that a lot of people here suggest getting lessons first, and also that second hand is the way to go (I've got any of my iron sets second hand). Do you have a budget in mind?

Buy the ones that give you the biggest horn, if they're not shiny enough - put em back

Seriously, put the clubhead behind the ball and whatever gives you the most confidence is the chosen one. There's very little between most of the big players

    What's you budget?

Ping's seem to be the most popular "improvers" club do to their forgiveness and club head size which makes them very popular. I would recommend staying away from the likes of Mizuno irons, they seem to be geared towards to mid to lower H/C but I do not know enough about the new ones.

To be honest the best thing to do regardless is to get yourself to a PRO and get fitted for them as they can then guide towards the best ones suited to your club head speed etc.

i was in a similar situation about a month back playing of 23/24, best thing to do is go into shop hit a few and keep an open mind, i went in thinking taylormade/callaway/ping and came out with a set of wilson

I currently use A set by Wilson. I got the whole set including Driver and putter for €80 new so as you can guess teh Driver is like tin foil. so i bought a new Tilest one and it's given me nearly 80+ yeards on my drive and ball control. So reckon new irons will do teh same.

I have a budget up to 700/800 to spend but if possible i wouldn't be spending that much.

Going by everything on teh rep[lies i reckon having a swing with a few different clubs in a shop might do the trick.

    Cheers
