    Hi.

Looking at a 03 fiesta 1.3 for my nephew with 75k miles on the clock.

What are the last of these 1.3 engines like, should they be avoided?

    Thanks.

They're a little clattery by modern standards, but better than the older Kent variants because of a beefier block. Like most old Kents they won't put up with incorrect servicing/oil.

Cheers for that.sounds like if the service history is missing then a 1.25 would be a safer bet.

the difference between the 1.3 and the 1.25 is night and day, seriously. the 1.3 sounds like a bag of spanners being trashed against a metal gate. The 1.25 is refined, smooth, more powerful, realiable and more saught after.

1.25 tends to be better specked too.

Cheers guys.will keep looking for a clean 1.25.its for my nephew. 02 model fiesta is the only small car he'll entertain so far.

Saw this one the other day.was in the dealers yard, but they were busy at the time and I was in a hurry.car was locked but had a look around it and inside.seemed in decent enough nick, but the lever for releasing the drivers seat back forward was ripped out and there was some card board stuck between the passengers side glass and door, maybe holding it up not sure.there was also a little water in the centre console, but it was raining quite heavy at the time and the sunroof was open.signs of a hard life or worth another look?
