think they should name and shame those who hold on to positives anyway

I think its mainly aimed at people holding on to pi's. And if they do, they should be named and restrictions put on their movements.

I got the great news of bvd results coming back positive last week. 1st time bvd here so not to happy. It also caused 8 cows not to go in calf last year. Having the calves restested asap and if positive again they are out the door. The 2 cows be gone too. Any more positives and they will get the same.

I only have 5 cows calved so far and 2 positives. Already 8 cows gone, 2 more to go and possibility more. Granted cows may not be pi's but why keep and feed for another year if no calf to rare. So out of 26 cows, im down 10 and potentially more due to bvd.

I bought in this bvd last year, either from my stock bull or a calf I got for a heifer that lost a calf. Both had bvd tags so I taught I would be ok. Both will get tested also.

Taught id share my experience and how simple things can go tits up. And still people hold on to pi's..

Thanks for your story, a real life story helps to concentrate minds.

The bought in animals may/may not be PIs. They really shouldn't be if previously tested but they may have been temporarily infected and carrying it that way.

Sickening act having to get the knacker to shoot a miller of a calf and your neighbour bragging about keeping positives.

I had a calf that had it in 2013 .her mother was tested it came back negative and she has had 2 calves since and no problem .she was the only calf that ever came back positive how she got it I can't figure it out anyway.

Thanks. they may not be pi's but as you said ti's can just be as bad. I will be letting neighbours know that join me. Maybe it might help their stock not breaking into mine this year. They usually break in every year. I never had cows in that part of farm either so cant be assuming I got it from neighbours. But also a possibility none the less.

I couldn't see much grounds for lads to get upset.
If your down with TB all neighbours know anyway.

    And it's probably more
Important to know lads have BVD problems.
