Nissan's scrappage deal & PCP

I've posted here recently about looking for an upgrade to my almost dead 01 Punto and was looking at something of similar engine size or slightly bigger (1.4l max).

I had been looking at something from around 2007-2009 but I'm now wondering if I'd be as good using Nissan's scrappage scheme to get a new Micra.

As it stands I'd probably be looking to borrow up to €6k for a 2nd hand car (don't have a huge amount of cash on hand right now and will get next to nothing for the Punto) - from the CU that'd be just shy of €200 a month over 3 years.

Going by Nissan's website (which I'm taking with a pinch of salt of course) I'd be looking to pay ~€240 per month for an entry level Micra after the 4k for my scrapped Punto.

Given that I'd save a wee bit on tax, NCT and (hopefully) running costs, all the while getting a new car - that extra €480 a year seems manageable to me.

What I'm not sure of is how much Nissan are likely to look for after 3 years, assuming I don't decide to upgrade or return the car. Any ideas on this?

Also - I don't know a huge amount about these kind of finance arrangements... are they generally competitive with a loan from a bank or CU or best avoided?

And perhaps most importantly - is the new Micra any good?!

Thanks for any help on this.

If you keep the car at year 3 you will have to pay the balance known as the gmfv which could be 6k or so.

To find out the exact figure you will have to talk to them because it's also milage depentent, <10k, 10-15k, 15-20k per year etc but the agreed figure will not change, they will print all this out for you to take away if you want to think about it

Thanks - I might go in and see what kind of figures they'd be talking about. It's a shame more places aren't doing some kind of scrappage deal at the moment... ~4k off the likes of a new Punto would make it very affordable!!
