We only have the tv less than a year and it's never fallen but since yesterday the bottom of the screen is darker than the rest. Any ideas what could could have caused this? Photos attached image.jpg

Doesn't really matter. It is in warranty, time to make use of it.

If you paid by credit card, this will be recorded on your account which you can print off and present to the store as proof of purchase.

You don't need a receipt. Just open a support ticket on the Samsung website and all you need is the serial number and date of purchase.

Samsung told me they need a copy of the receipt before they will look at it

They are trying it on. All you need is proof of purchase and when. Of course a receipt is one way of doing that but there are others.

Anyway your contract is with the retailer you purchased it from not Samsung and it is to the retailer you must go to get it repaired not Samsung.

Samsung are usually very good. Try the help on the TV itself.

I did the test and it failed all three

From the photos it looks like part of the back light is gone. Is it a smart TV? Model number?

I have had great support from Samsung for problems that were quite small in truth but were fixed with there help. [DVD not connecting - needed software upgrade, etc.]

Yes, your contract is with the retailer. Have you tried them yet? They will of course try and fob you off to the manufacturer.
They might tell you to try a firmware update first, but you would still need a proof of purchase for the eventual followup repair... Or insist that your retailer sort it out, and they will arrange with the manufacturer.
    Good luck with it.

I have a toshiba that keeps changing the size of the screen when you go to the sky menu and then comes back when you select a channel. Any ideas why this is happening?

Format settings on the sky box or TV or both.

I had the same issue about a year ago
Kind of darker patch on the tv on the left side.(TV was 2 years old at the time)

Guy came out with new screen and replaced it there and then (left the bezel and the back stuff intact)

    Screen has been great since.
    Thank god for extended warranty
