Music in registry office

Can anyone please enlighten me! I have the documentation from when myself & my partner registered our intent to marry and it states that you can have music, poems, readings, etc, but how is the music arranged? How many songs are permitted and when are they played?! Are there any strict rules regarding the types of songs that can be played or is it a case of anything goes? The day is looming so I need to get this sorted!

Did she not give you the ceremony layout page.. It states on that I am sure where you can have music.. If not just email them and they will send it onto you.. They are fast to respond in fairness..

I would think it is in all the normal places like walk down the aisle, while signing the register, walk back up the aisle...

    Can't have anything religious whatsoever.

The bit we got from the registrar says Music optional before the ceremony and after the ceremony, no religious content.
The Dublin registry office has a CD player apparently and I believe you're free to bring other things.

I picked up a classical music for wedding ceremonies CD in HMV last week and I'm just going to pick two songs off it.

My sister had a civil marriage she had music walking up the 'aisle' had 2 readings, before vows were said, music when signing register about 2 songs and music at the end of the ceremony, anything song wise and reading goes as long as it's not religious.

The one by grand canal has a lead you can plug your device into to play your chosen music.

    Can you clarify.
Do they actually have a CD player, I was told they do and I wasn't planning to bring one, just the CD.

Also by saying there's a lead you can plug your device into? What sort of plug, do you mean a wall socket so I can plug in a device with it's own speakers, or a USB port so I can plug in my phone and play something through their CD player/wall speakers or whatever they have?

(They really should have all this available in an online pdf, but if they do I can't find it)

Thanks for all the posts. I'm sorry, I did find the document that shows how the ceremony will run, but it's still confusing as it only shows two places where you can have music, however I was at a civil ceremony two years ago and they had plenty of songs😩

As another poster said, all this info should be available online because the last few days I've tried ringing and am left on hold for ages.

I know nothing about a CD player. We didnt have any music but the registrar used the headphone jack lead and plugged her phone in so the music played through the speakers in the room.
