The coverage of the story of missing Cork woman Karen Buckley by RTE TV News, particularly on last evenings nine o'clock bulletin, deserves special praise for it's sensitive tone and prudent editing process. Well done to all concerned.

Pity our biggest selling tabloid (the Independent) didn't do the same. They've become less sensational over the last day or so in their online version but earlier on in the week, some of their headlines were disgraceful.

I'm not sure I agree. In my opinion the coverage is bordering on saturation, with the usual unnecessary interviewing of every Tom Dick and Harry who fancies seeing their faces on TV, and endless filler to exploit the story as far as possible. Surely a single interview with one well informed community representative would suffice on sad occasions like this.
