    Hi,
Went to turn on our heat this evening and the boiler is dead. We have an old timer clock. It hasn't worked for the last 10 years as a timer so we just use it to turn on the heat. When I click the button up twice nothing happens, no orange light, nothing. I'm hoping this means the clock is dead and not the boiler!!!
I replaced the fuse and checked the board hadn't tripped.
Any suggestions or theories on what may be wrong?
Ps we have the builders in and had an internal wall taken down today. They were nowhere near the utility room but wonder if the knocking coud have unsettled the old boiler (18 years).
    Appreciate any help.

Is there a room stat anywhere on the wall. If so, turn it up. Also check the water pressure on the boiler gauge

Thanks. No there was no room stat. Also there's no gauge to check that I can see. It's an old boiler.

Is anything tripped on the fuse board?

Nope it's all fine. The timer is on the same as the utility room sockets and they are working fine. There is an indicator light on the clock timer, and this doesn't come on at all. I assume power goes to the timer first then this goes to the boiler. So I think it's reasonable that the timer is kaput?

Did you try the over heat button on the side

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,730 ✭✭✭redser7

I did, it hasn't popped. But thanks.

All sorted. The wall that was taken out had a light switch on it. When that was disconnected it broke the circuit the timer and boiler were on :)
