I think we should all be able to watch footy in Hd. Tv3 should not be allowed to show champions league unless it is in Hd. The same also applies for the blurry 3e pics for Europa league. I think if enough voices petitioned UEFA we could get this changed. I know many can watch on itvhd but you can't record or pause matches on sky.

What I don't understand is how are sky allowed to show Hd champions league matches in Ireland but BT sport are not allowed to show Europa league. Often the matches on bt are not on setanta or 3e. they say this is due to licensing but if that was the case sky would not be allowed.

I'm looking for people to join me and petition uefa that football must have to be shown in Hd in Ireland especially when rte, sky and bt all have Hd and we should not have to settle for substand content. We already pay enough for tv licences and subscription channels so we should expect Hd.

I know there are bigger problems in the world but id appreciate any support in helping us all get what we deserve.

Not a penny of the TV licence or your subscription charges goes to TV3 or 3e so you have no moral right to demand that they broadcast in HD.

Don't forget as well that TV3/3e have lost the Europa League to Setanta from next season.

The tax payer did bail them out to the tune of 70 odd million and they do receive funding for some programming.

as we are on the subject i believe that kabel eins should show europa league games in HD FTA, if ZDF can do it for the champions league then kabel eins should as well.

also ITV 4 HD should be FTA

Two things always stop me from watching football on TV3,

1; Trevor Welch (worst commentator ever)

2; The ****ty picture quality.

ITV aint much better regarding commentary but at least they try

Yes it does, for example, they got €800k for Red Rock though the BAI independent production fund which is funded by the licence fee.

TV3 will be in HD on Sky & UPC before the RWC, they have already announced that, so I doubt Sky will be broadcasting in 4k before that!

What about tg4 only on UPC in hd? Not sure how much content they have in hd but would be good if they were at least on saorview in hd.
