An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-900, registration N464AS performing flight AS-448 from Seattle,WA to Los Angeles,CA (USA), was in the initial climb out of Seattle's runway 16L when the crew reported hearing banging from the underside of the aircraft, stopped the climb at 5000 feet and returned to Seattle for a safe landing on runway 16L about 14 minutes after departure. After landing a ramp worker was released from the front cargo hold and taken to a hospital.

The airline confirmed that a ramp worker was found inside the forward cargo hold, which is pressurized and temperature controlled, after the crew heard banging from the underside of the aircraft immediately after becoming airborne. The ramp worker appeared okay but was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

He's lucky the cargo section was pressurised! He wouldn't have woken up to alert the pilots if it wasn't ...

There are no commercial airliners today with unpressurised cargo compartments. Would be extremely cold down there though!

I knew a security guard European national working from major airline hub (sorry havent his permission to say what airport ) who got trapped in the Jumbo lift .Part of his job was to check Jumbo type on the ground and check the drinks lift that goes from floor to bar on another level. He entered to look the lift and some body going past closed the door on him .He ended up going on two hour local European flight where they dont use the drinks lift and next security found him .Seems the noise of plane drowned out his banging .
Dont get at me The guy told me the story so cant say if it was true .
