Ive always had an iphone; and dropped and smashed mine a couple of days ago.

Id like to buy a galaxy- is the 4 very old? How much would i pay for a second hand 4/5?

Im opting for galaxy for the larger screen. Id prefer to buy outright.

    Thanks

Galaxy S4 is now 2 years old while the S5 is 1 year old

There's bound to be plenty of ads on Adverts.ie or DoneDeal.ie for second-hand devices

In all honesty I would favour an S5 easily over the S4. Failing that I would look at alternatives.

Huge difference. My wife has an S4, I an S5. The S4 is a horrible phone, the S5 beats it hands down in every aspect.

The S5 isn't all that great either. What you'd pay for a used S5 good have a new One Plus One 64gb which is far superior.

A HTC One M8 is better too, better quality build if coming from an iPhone. The Xperia Z3 is another great phone.

+1 is a nice phone but the m8 being better is debatable. The main aspect of any phone for me is the camera. The S5's camera is second to none whereas the m8 falls well short with very average pictures. 1+1 not far behind.

    But hey, horses for courses.

I would disagree completely with you, I have an S4 and its a brilliant phone and my partner has a S5 and I dislike it.
I have Lollipop in my S4 now and its flawless and I find the camera excellent too.

A friend bought one last week for just under €400, which included delivery and a case.

I found I was able to get decent pictures from the M8 but my expectations weren't high with it being a phone. Take the camera away from it and the M8 has the S5 beaten. I've had both and the Z3 and One Plus and the S5 was the most disappointing by a long shot between lag, poorer battery life and creaky build.

I have an S4 too. There is no lag in it. The camera and screen are still excellent for a 2 year old phone. Even the nytimes said its still a good phone recently. I dont see a sizeable difference between it and a S5.
