The billion dollar club 2015

With Fast & furious 7 looking like doing about $1.1b I thought it'd be interesting to try to predict what's going to join the billion dollar club this year. There's a lot of tentpole movies out & it looks like being a very lucrative year for hollywood.

    These are my predictions:

    Fast & Furious 7 - $1.1b
    Star Wars 7 - $1.3b
    Avengers 2 - $1.1b
    007 - $900m
    Minions - $750m
    Mad Max 4 - $800m
    Jurassic World - $1.1b
    Ted 2 - $550m
    Terminator Genesis - $900m
    Mission Impossible 5 - $800m
    Ant Man - $700m
Fantastic Four - $500m (I think this one's gonna tank)
    Magic Mike XXL - $400m
    Hunger Games 4 - $1.1b

Obviously far from exhaustive, would be interested in other's opinions

I'd be surprised if Avengers 2 and Star Wars pulled in that little, considering what Fast and the Furious did. Could easily see both heading past the 1.5bn mark

Furious 7 is an exceptional case. It's got the fans, the curious & a very high female contingent in the audience. Really, it should be tapping out at $800m. Walker's passing assured it of great box office the first couple of weeks. The next two will be the remainder of people who didn't want to be jammed in the cinema.

I think Starwars will end up eventually at about $1.5-1.7b but it's opening late in the year. Avengers will probably go higher, but I think the initial surge will die off pretty quick.

Agree with the poster above me , Star Wars will do a billion , but not in 2015. Its opening too late in the year

It's ironic but on that list of potentially the most popular movies this year, or any year for that matter, I doubt I will watch one of them

I can see Spectre breaking all Bond records. Skyfall was huge box office. The return of Blofeld / Christopher Waltz will mean larger audiences. It opens in October (I think) so has plenty of time to rake in the cash.

If Terminator makes more than the price of a pint, I'll be disgusted

If Magic Mike XXL has a cameo from Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey it will kill all at the box office :p

I don't Ted 2 will fair too well at the box office and I think also Ant Man despite the cast involved many also not do too well

I think Avengers 2 and Star Wars will do very well

I think Pixels could do well, I know an Adam Sandler film but yes think it could

I reckon Minions could go over the 1bn mark tbh. Despicable Me 2 came close and I can see Minions going over if it's good.

Tomorrowland won't do 1bn but think it'll do very well. Brad Bird has a good record with his films and it being Disney and having George Clooney, I reckon it'll put up some big numbers.

Having just watched the trailer for Star Wars 7, I'm thinking it could possibly do $2b inside three months.

id say avengers and star wars have $2billion potential in them, hard to call which will do better,

looks like furious will hit the billion, if bond is anywhere near as good as Skyfall was it will also do a billion, cant see the hunger games get it though, if jurrasic park can keep a good adult mentality to it it also stands a chance,

id say mad max and ted will bomb, fantastic 4 and terminator will do well enough to justify a sequel, as could magic mike, and the maze runner

and mission impossible, ant man, and minions will clean up, probably around the $7-800 mark,

films like tomorrowland, san andreas, pitch perfect 2, the man from UNCLE, jane got a gun, captive, will all do ok id say, hard to call any of them

weird how the entire box office debate for 2015 can boil down to 14-15 films,

then theres the awards film later in the year, the ones that will be great but make **** all at the BO compared, like the hateful 8, steve jobs, bridge of spies, the walk, in the heart of the sea, joy, snowden, and the revenant,

I think 'Pixels' could be a big fat flop.
