    Well lads,
Hoping to study software development next year in college and was looking for a good laptop to buy. Budget wouldnt be massive but looking for some suggestions on a laptop with a price range up to €700

Good second hand T420s, nice and light, long battery and has plenty enough power (make sure it has SSD)

Was trying to stay away from second hand, yeah SSD seems to be essential from what i have read...

If you are going to be studying software development you are going to be spending more time thinking and debugging than computing. So I would forego the SSD and spend the saving on a basic router and a RaspberryPi. You can then install a web server, a database server, a vpn server, an if you wish a pbx on the Pi, all of which you should find useful and instructive,.
