Sp1 v RSVR

    Just curious as to which would ye pick between the two?
    I'm guessing most will pick the Honda.
    They are making good money at moment.
    I rather the RSVR(that's why I have one)
    Also with the RSVR you get Ohlins, brembos and carbon fibre bits and pieces.

    The sp is making more money in Ireland at the moment but I have seen two same bikes as mine(2003)sold in England recently, one sold for 7000 sterling and the other 5000 sterling.

    Both are bike porn, cracking machines. Forget about the value, for pure motorbike tastes I would have the SP1. Especially in that Castrol colour scheme white and green with the hint of red.

    Nerrads mate off here has one and its just so purdy! But I be more then happy with either TBH.

    If i had the choice i would be inclined to go with the RSVR myself especially the newer model :D

    Thats ronans Sp1 it is something else in the flesh, custom paint job theres is not one sticker on the bike think it was done by Sean Egan

    Yeah if I was to buy an sp It would have to be the castrol one.
    The red ones just don't do it for me.
    Although the sp would be easier to live it.
    My RSVR was giving me a hard time starting it.
    A slight adjustment of the throttle position sensor sorted it.
    It was pretty cool sorting it though.
    There's a diganostic wire near the battery that when joined gives readings on the dash regarding the position of the sensor.

    One touch of the button now and bang,she fires straight away.

    Bikeworld have an Aprilia RSVR, 2003 I think.......

    My jaw hit the floor when I say the pricetag. €30k! They're not worth THAT much money!!!

    prefer an rsv over an sp, and the later pointy model over the curvy one

    I've owned a RSVr like yours, 2 of the later models and a SP1 down through the years (I'm obviously into twins!) As a road bike the model you have was the best of the bunch imo, followed by the later model rsvr and finally the SP1, even on track I would rate the 04 onwards RSVR. The SP1 was heavy, thirsty, fuelling was crap at low revs, even with a power commander and seriously uncomfortable but if you were in the mood and could find an empty, windy road it was fantastic, the only bike I regreted selling was the SP1, because of the rate they seem to be appreciating in value and they were well made, and have aged well IMO

    You could be right, yours is the nicest of the round shaped ones, it must be late 02 or 03 with the radial brakes, nice. With all the horror stories you hear about Aprilia reliability I never had an issue with the 3 I owned bar a fried stator on the 06 one, I think the secret is to keep them on a battery tender as trying to start them on a weak battery causes all sorts of problems from sprag clutches to blown relays

    03 model and from what I have learnt from the Aprilia forum, seemingly the the hardest to source parts for. Aware of all potential starting probs, done some mods and have her on an optimiser .
    What I really like is the black frame as I have never seen another in the flesh with it.
    And of course the radials are a nice touch too!;)

    hahaha!! But your bike is so purdy and the angle of the exhausts is just soul destroying! :P
    I have some Mat black beowulf exhausts on the way for the bird. They will do. At least the symmetry will be spot on... hahaha

    SP1/2 - RSVR both gorgeous in my opinion.

    RSVR great value second hand.........that is unless you're buying it in the glasshouse!

    It's a Mille SP, limited edition yoke that they have had sitting there unstarted since new. It was 30k back in 2003 and is 30k now! The thing would be ruined having never been run. If you are some sort of collecting lunatic with nothing better to do I guess you might buy it

    I'm one of the few among my mates who would rate a an RSV over an SP1/2, never really saw the attraction to the Honda myself...

    Like you say maybe a collector, they go mad for unmolested zero/delivery miles bikes.....maybe if they had the original crate it came in from the factory, any tools that came with it etc etc.

    Still a bit of a mental price if you actually want to shift it anytime soon imo. I suppose they may not though...don't they have a bit of a collection themselves rc30 etc etc.

    If I had that kind of cash for a bike I'd be on the look out for a tasty low mile bimota for not much more than half of that......be as good of an investment if thats what you want bikes for and you're willing to take the risk of having to sell it for much less in the future.

    I can't see them getting it as it's not something people ever wanted. but then again lots of stuff that isn't particularly good is becoming collectable now so it's possible.
