When buying clothing from ebay and it says brand new but no tags is that a warning sign? It is a UK seller. Why would there be no shop or brand tags if someone is doing it as a business

One possible is because a big brand name has dumped a load of excess stock through the trade and removed or defaced the tags so they can't be associated with the big brand name or returned to a store example M&S.

No tags can also mean no "swing tags" the ones with the prices and item details on, the garment sewn in tags may still be in place.

yes it means, in this case,no "swing tags" . This can still be brand new?

Probably but you can never be sure all you can do is check the feedback if there is any.

Is it a well known brand with high feedback or a new seller? If they are well established you should be ok, if not I'd be weary personally.

Are you sure it is a business? Ask the seller how he sources his clothing

Could be that the person bought it and cut of the tags before realising that they don't like the colour etc. Sometimes if sellers buy excess stock the shop/outlet make them remove the tags so they cannot be returned to the shop.

I think it would make sense to ask the seller, people will make all sort's of assumptions. If the seller tells you one thing and you receive something not matching the sellers description PayPal will refund your money. It's in the sellers interests to give you a straight answer.

I bought shirts before from the UK where the description says that the items are new from a major retail outlet but without tags. When you look at he description carefully you see a capital M and capital S somewhere in the middle of it as a big hint. Obviously Marks & Spencer frequently offload end of line items to resellers on condition that the tags are cut off them and that they can't disclose who the retailer is.

Just as a curiosity do they refund postage as well?
I am now satisfied there is a genuine reason for no tags

Item might be counterfeit, but not necessarily. Check the feedback, ask questions and try to find out why tags are missing in the first place.

It should be stated in the listing, it has to be sent by recorded delivery. I heard stories of people returning items and the seller saying they never received them. This is the link for the returns page, check out the section at the bottom, return postage for different types of listings.

In general I've had only a few problems with Ebayers over the last ten plus years. I hope you are happy if you decide to make the purchase.

Labels removed can also mean that the item is a 'second'. I.e. Did not pass quality control
