This might be a silly question but. .

I'm currently paying for an 8mb line.
    According to speedtest.net I get a constant 3.5mb.

Now, my local exchange is due to be upgraded to 100mb.

so. ..... What sort of speed should I expect after the exchange upgrade ?

Can you could post some line stats from your router (attenuation, SNRM, etc...)
Speeds of upto 100 Mbps are available to those connected to VDSL2 (eFibre) cabinets on a short line but there's little known yet as to what speeds one can expect when connected directly to VDSL2 gear in the exchange

Max package on eVDSL at the moment is 50/20

Not necessarily. This is a prequal from a direct fed line showing a max profile of 70_20.....

That's a prequal, actual would still be 50/20 as this is the max.
