Servicing an old low mileage golf

What would you recommend to have done for a service for a 20 year old VW Golf which has only 20k km on the clock. Its been mainly garaged for the past five years but seems to be running fine.

I would think that the only servicing its got would have been oil changes, years ago.

Anything rubber could be perished and cracked, bushings, belts, hoses.
Coolant and brake fluid would be well past their best.
Oil and filter, plus plugs fuel and air filter.

Timing belt and brakes would be the first thing I'd have a look at. Do that belt and change the oil and coolant and the brake fluid. Then it should be drivable, just make sure the calipers/pads haven't seized. Take it for a spin, lift each wheel of the ground and make sure the brakes aren't sticking. Timing belt could be OK for a while but you would need to have a good look at it first. Start tippin away then at the other bits then as they're needed for NCT or whatever. New plugs air filter and a throttle body clean should have her back runnin nice.

Its driving fine and its actually passed the NCT (I did the exhaust and new tyres) so nothing is sticking or seized. So I'll look to oil, filters, plugs brake fluid and timing belt...

Nct dont check for sticking calipers. Or at least doesnt give you a guarantee. It would pick up if they were sticking off but on not so much. Happened me. Passed nct, a few weeks later spun out on a roundabout... a week later I'm the far side of the country with no pads left on one rear brake. Caliper was completely stuck. Couldnt even return the piston a small bit with a wind back tool.
