The one that was in aldi a week or two ago would be better value it was self proppelled and was €199 i think. My local aldi still have them so should be easy enough to get.

Have an Aldi one for 4 or 5 years. Mighty yoke.

Could do with a service, but might be better/cheaper just buying a new one!

Does the Aldi lawnmower have keystart by any chance?

where is your local aldi? These were all sold out in galway hours after they were available. Still would live to get one.

You can just ring their helpline during hours and ask them to check if any stores near to you are registering some stock on the system, I did this a while back and they were very helpful, especially if you explain that you are willing to travel within reason. Number will be online. Hope this helps.

The lidl one is 125cc for €180, there's a 149cc one in Homebase for €150.

I'm no expert on lawnmowers though, is that lidl one something special?

Tis a Lidl bit special alright.

    I'll get me coat.

I'm guessing the home base one doesn't come with a 3 year no quibble warranty tüv cert and median term parts availability.

Picked one up in athlone this morning (€229). Still had 4 or 5 available at 9.15am.

Does this Lidl one have a starter in it so you do not have to pull the cord etc. to start it?

It's a good thing it had the 3yr guarantee, as for some reason the motor went & wouldn't cut after a year :( & when you buy an item like that, it's looking for the receipt after such a long time!
But was reminded of something an Aldi employee told me one time to scan the receipt & glad i did,as it was easier to email it off as proof of purchase & within a month i got a replacement in the size of a huge package in the post & turned out to be a better one as well :)

Did you have to return the broken one?

Probably just needed some carb cleaner. If you don't drain a mower completely dry and store them dry they will rarely start after the winter. That goes for Briggs Stratton and Honda too.

I've never seen a standard mower with an electronic starter, they dont need them as they are easy to start with the cord.

I have but not in a long time as battery mowers have moved in to that market.

That's what i thought, after emailing the receipt off, as i got a reply back, saying i didn't have to, very understanding crowd as no bother with them!

I actually took it to a friend of mine who does services on cars, bikes & mowers, sharpened the blade as i thought it was blunt, gave it a look to see if there was anything else, but couldn't see anything else wrong as you could turn it on & hear the motor, but wouldn't cut?

I just had it out a week ago, doing the first cut & sadly you could see the moss coming up over the winter:(

My next door neighbour got one as well & leaves it out all the time of what i've seen it's very weather beaten & doesn't clean it much & still going :p
I hose the front down, but hand clean the underside, but the 2nd one is closed off, so you can carefully hose the grass off ;)

Where do you get those details for it, not on the Lidl website?
Is it a B&S engine on the Aldi one?

As for €10 more its a larger machine & got a bigger bucket & afaik more of a height on the grass cutting v
Lidl mower afaik upto 60mm cut, smaller bucket, but the 2nd mower i got was more compact & got sturdier wheels
