    Hi all,

I hope this is ok to share here. I used to regularly read this forum and know that it is packed with amazingly talented photographers.

I am here today to ask you to consider something you may have never considered before.

My first baby, Max, was stillborn completely unexpectedly at 12 days overdue in what was a normal healthy pregnancy. It's been earth shattering. I've been blogging about it and have recently written about what the photos we received from a charity called 'Now I lay me down to sleep' mean to us.

I would ask you to consider reading my blog, and considering whether you or someone you know might be able to offer your services to this charity. They are stretched for photographers all over the country. Donegal actually has none, and the Dublin area struggles as the demand is focused there.

You'd need to be technically strong and very brave, I can't promise it'll be easy, but I can promise these photos will be among the most meaningful you will ever take.

If you are interested please contact nilmdts Ireland on Facebook for more details.

    Thanks for reading
    Anne Marie x

hi anne marie, i havent read your blog yet, i will tonight, i cant imagine how families feel when the unthinkable happens, i follow NILMDTS on facebook and its a brilliant charity ive always thought i would like to get involved in myself, as a photographer i think you would find the strength from somewhere when u know how much of a gift you are giving for the mums and dads to have that memory. At the moment I dont have the correct camera gear (i think they specify full frame cameras) but i will look into it again.

I would happily volunteer to do this, unfortunately I am not in Ireland. If there is any that need to be done form early May to Early July I would assist.

Thanks for replying. I'm not sure about the requirements. There's a webinar on this Friday for anyone interested in considering volunteering.

Nilmdts is actually a US based organisation originally. They are now operating out of quite a few countries, so maybe they exist wherever you live?

I've been mulling over whether to apply or not for the past few weeks and discussed it with my good lady wife who is also a photographer. She has decided that it's not for her and I decided to go for it and sent in my application over a week ago so fingers crossed I get accepted.......

As a photographer I can see the immense benefit to the bereaved couple in the future although they may not see it at the heartbreaking time of their loss.

I done this for my sisters friend a couple of years ago. I consider myself emotionally very strong. However it was really tough I salute anyone who takes this on.
