Settlement negotiations-what to expect?

This week I will be attending settlement negotiations for a personal injury case that has dragged out for the last 4 years. Basically, the 2 defendants have finally admitted partial liability each and thankfully seem eager to settle without going to the high court. They made a lowball offer last autumn which my solicitir advised me advised me not to accept. I am curious as to what exactly will happen at the settlement negotiations? I will be there with my barrister (who I have never met before). I know I will not have to speak for myself thankfully. Will there be a judge present? How long do these negotiations usually last? Any insight would be greatly appreciated thanks.

There won't be a judge present. It'll be the defendants sides sitting down and having a few words with your barrister and solicitor if present. You don't really do anything afaik.
