It may sounds funny but i use olive oil on my face before shaving. It won't soften stubble but it will protect and moisturize my skin. I don't need any aftershave balm.

    Maciek.

It worked for the ancient Romans I believe but I tried it once with disastrous results. Very messy in the bathroom too as the oil tends to get on everything.

I've not tried olive oil but I have tried a shaving oil and I didn't really notice any difference. They're just not for me it seems.

Not messy for me at all. I pour just a little bit on my palm like an aftershave and massage it to my face. Clean hands with soap and that's it. No mess. For me there's nothing better than this:)

Extra Virgin or any old oil?
