Vodafone Fibre broadband question

I am soon to be swapping over to Vodafone Fibre broadband from DSL.

I currently have a phone extension cable running from the master socket to the router location (about 8m).

Will this setup still work once I get the new fiber router or will I need to run a cat 5 cable instead of the existing extension cable?

The setup you have will be fine.

I'm using that method as it is, and I'm still getting 95Mbps.

Depends on the cabling. If its crappy untwisted stuff then you'll have a problem.

Flat cable isn't recommended for longer than 1m maximum, you will always lose some speed because of having no twists. Close to the cab/exchange it may not matter but if you are a long distance you'll feel it more.

You'd be better to throw the tech a few quid to run a data port extension, they are no longer allows run them for Vodafone customers as they don't get paid for them.

Thanks for the input.

It's a flat cable and a few Km from exchange, so it might be an issue.

I have a spare hub, so I think I will leave the router at the outlet and run a cat5 over to the other side of the room.
